Best Time to Cross the Causeway

There is no reliable hour that is always the best time to cross. Direction, school holidays, public holidays, incidents and traffic from Malaysia can change queues quickly. ICA warns of heavy traffic during school holiday and long-weekend periods, and recommends checking checkpoint conditions before travelling.

For example, ICA's September 2026 advisory expected very heavy traffic across the holiday window and reported car immigration waits of up to three hours during the preceding National Day weekend. That is an event example, not a normal wait estimate.

1. Check Singapore and Johor holidays and the latest ICA advisory.
2. Look at timestamped Woodlands and Tuas camera images before choosing a route.
3. Remember that Singapore road speeds and camera views do not measure immigration or Malaysia-side queues. Allow a buffer when arrival time matters.
4. If your schedule is flexible, check again shortly before departure. Consider cross-border buses if driving routes are congested.

We intend to publish an hour-by-weekday road pattern only after continuous samples have been collected and checked. Our methodology explains the distinction between a road speed band and a border wait time. We do not currently have enough recent history to publish a quantitative heatmap.
