Malaysia VEP for Singapore Cars: Registration, RFID & Road Charge
What Singapore registered drivers need before entering Malaysia: JPJ VEP registration, RFID tag fees, and the separate RM20 road charge.

Singapore registered vehicle entering Malaysia: register for Malaysia's JPJ VEP RFID tag. A private car also pays Malaysia's RM20 Road Charge per entry.
Malaysia registered vehicle entering Singapore: Singapore LTA has a separate Vehicle Entry Permit with a daily fee. The S$35/day current fee and S$50/day rate from January 2027 belong to that Singapore scheme, not to Singapore cars visiting JB.

Register your Singapore vehicle with JPJ
- Apply through the official JPJ VEP portal before travelling.
- Check your vehicle details and follow the portal's instructions for the VEP RFID tag.
- Pay for collection or delivery and activate the tag through the JPJ process.
- Keep your road tax, insurance and payment method valid for the crossing.
JPJ lists a RM10 tag processing fee and RM29.50 collection agent service fee; courier charges may be extra. A tag is valid for five years after activation and is tied to the vehicle.
What you pay on a JB trip
JPJ lists a RM20 Road Charge per entry for private foreign registered vehicles entering Malaysia. Motorcycles and commercial vehicles are exempt from this Road Charge. It is separate from checkpoint tolls and any one-time RFID tag costs.
